Dr. Aldredge was presented with the American Academy of Periodontology Distinguished Service Award for his many accomplishments in advancing the Academy’s mission.

· Member of numerous other committees and task forces.
· The leading force in providing certification for “Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery”
· First representative to the new ADA National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards.

Awarded for his work on the National ADA Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards.

Northeastern Society of Periodontists Irwin W. Scopp Memorial Fellowship

In appreciation of his leadership, perseverance and accomplishments.

Elected Fellow, American College of Dentists

Dr. Aldredge was elected to the American College of Dentists, the oldest major honorary organization for dentists. Only 3.5% of dentists achieve this elite honor.

Fellows are nominated by current members, and are selected via peer review. Dr. Aldredge was named a Fellow on the strength of his leadership and achievements as well as his ability to offer new insights and direction for dentistry and oral health.

Service

Professional Service

Dr. Aldredge served as president of the American Academy of Periodontology.  Also as president of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists and New Jersey Society of Periodontists. 

Dr. Aldredge was a member of the American Academy of Periodontology task force which developed and wrote the professional guidelines for treating patients with periodontal disease. This paper was distributed to every dentist in the United States.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration (Dental Implants) and American Board of Periodontists. 

He is a fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists

Educator

Leader, Dental Hygienist Education Initiative

Dr. Aldredge is leading an American Academy of Periodontology task force to provide Dental Hygienists with increased insight and education on periodontal treatment.  Because hygienists play an important role in a patient’s oral health, it is vital to give them the most updated information they need to enhance periodontal care.

Lectures and Presentations

Dr. Aldredge gives lectures, presentations and symposiums to colleges, hospitals and dental societies on topics including:

  • Guided Bone Regeneration – A Staged Approach to Implant Placement
  • Dental Implants and Surgical Techniques
  • Localized Delivery of Chemotherapeutic Agents
  • Connective Tissue Grafting
 

International Education

Dr. Aldredge presented to 2,000 dentists and hygienists at the Japanese Academy of Clinical Periodontology annual meeting in Fukuoka, Japan.

Local Education

Dr. Aldredge operates his own Advanced Dental Education Center of Holmdel at his Holmdel, NJ practice. The center keeps dentists, dental students, dental staff and patients up to date on the latest research and products. 

Faculty Member 

In addition to his private practice in Holmdel, New Jersey, Dr. Aldredge is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Dental Implantology at Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, and a guest lecturer and Dental Hygienist Advisory Committee member at Middlesex County College, Edison, NJ. 

Military Service

Dr. Aldredge is an Army veteran. His military service began when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. During college he applied for and won an ROTC scholarship. Upon graduation Dr. Aldredge served as a Second Lieutenant in the NJ National Guard, Westfield, NJ as a medical platoon leader in an armored cavalry unit.   

Following dental school, Dr. Aldredge completed an advanced education program in oral dentistry for one year at Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC. His next duty station was at the US Military Academy, West Point, NY where he served as a Captain, treating cadets, service men and women, and retirees. While at West Point he also coached the West Point Army rugby team.

Dr. Aldredge received multiple medals and awards while serving.

Dr. Aldredge has researched and authored professional education pieces and consumer articles. He has also been interviewed for magazines, newspapers and television.

“A Multi-center Phase 3 Trial of Minocycline Periodontal Therapeutic System (Arestin™): Adjunctive Use in Patients with Adult Periodontitis.”

Both of these medical devices have since received FDA Approval.

Dr. Aldredge represented dentist and specialist with the Associated Press, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and on the Today Show

Dr. Wayne Aldredge was interviewed on camera by the Associated Press for his expert opinion on recent dental floss studies. The dental floss story was released internationally on August 2, 2016 and Dr. Aldredge’s defense of dental flossing appeared in hundreds of national, regional and local newspapers, radio stations and TV reports.

The dental floss debate immediately went viral, and Dr. Aldredge appeared on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt to provide further insight on the efficacy of flossing and oral health.

Appearing on NBC’s Today Show, Dr. Aldredge presented additional facts regarding the link between gum disease and whole body health. 

Dr. Aldredge was interviewed by the New York Times and also appeared live on CTV (Canada); CTV radio; News Radio KNX (CBS) Los Angeles; Talk Radio KABC Los Angeles and on Verizon FIOS news.

Previously, Dr. Aldredge has appeared in Mississippi Magazine; the Monmouth Journal; Monmouth Health & Life magazine, and online with “Take 5 with Marty Jablow” and “The DEZiree Show“.
