Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation

A minimally invasive technique to treat receding gums without traditional grafting.

We are thrilled to offer our Holmdel Periodontics & Implant Dentistry patients a breakthrough dental procedure that allows us to treat gum recession with no scalpel, no sutures and no gum tissue grafting.

The Pinhole® Surgical Technique is a one-appointment treatment that immediately corrects receding gums.

Dr. Aldredge has attended the Chao Pinhole Academy in Los Angeles county, CA, and is the only periodontal surgeon in the Holmdel area to be certified to perform the Pinhole Surgical Technique to repair receding gums.

The Pinhole Surgical Technique, or Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation™,  is a non-invasive procedure, unlike traditional gum grafting therapy.   Your gum recession is corrected with very little swelling and is generally healed within 24 hours.  There are generally no post-operative physical restrictions. In many cases patients comfortably eat dinner on the same day as their treatment.

Pinhole® Gum Rejuvenation

If you are among the 50% of Americans with gum recession, you know the condition is a leading cause of tooth sensitivity to hot and cold.  Gum recession can expose the roots of the teeth to decay.  In addition, many adults with receding gums are embarrassed by the appearance of their smile.

If the idea of invasive gum graft surgery has made you delay seeking treatment for gum recession, make an appointment with us now to discover how the results. No referral necessary. Call for a consultation today!

Amazing Procedure - Why It’s So Popular

The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a non-invasive procedure to repair gum recession.  Dr. Aldredge uses a needle to make a small hole in the tissue above the affected tooth or teeth. Using special tools, he is able to guide gum tissue (gingiva) until it once again covers the root surface of the tooth.

There is very little swelling, very little pain, and the pinhole closes within 24 hours.  Most patients require only over-the-counter pain relievers, and often just one dose.

Because the Pinhole Surgical Technique is non-invasive and less traumatizing to tissue, Dr. Aldredge can treat multiple teeth, even an entire mouth, in one appointment.  And the results are visible instantly.

In contrast, gum graft surgery, the traditional treatment for gum recession, requires taking gum tissue from the roof of the oral cavity, creating an incision along the gum line, inserting the gum graft, and suturing it closed.  While this surgery is very successful, there can be considerable swelling or bleeding, and the gums may take up to two weeks to heal.
